The design probably dates to the 1920's when Bone' was establishing a successful career for himself. In 1925 Bone he was awarded a  Gold Medal at the International Exhibition in Paris and in1926 he had  a joint exhibition at the Goupil Gallery, alongside Rodney Joseph Burn.  In 1928 he painted a mural in the  Piccadilly Circus underground station.
