Provenance: With the aritist's family until 2012
Sorrell and Thornton White met at the British School at Rome and collaborated together in 1930 on A hall for a Travel Agency and Banking Scheme, 1930 (collection of RIBA Library). They developed a close friendship - in letters
written to Sorrell's wife in about 1944, he mentions his 'friend White' whom
he wanted her to meet.
