Sorrell and Thornton White developed an increasingly close friendship at the British School at Rome united by a common admiration for the order and unity of the early Quattrocento and its application to modern art and architecture. In 1930 collaborated together to produce a design for A Hall for a Travel Agency and Banking Company.
