Harold Dearden (1888–1962)

Painter in oil and watercolour, draughtsman in ink and wash. Dearden studied at Rochdale School of Art under H Barrett Carpenter, 1905-10, then at the Royal College of Art for five years under Gerald Moira. Dearden, a strong draughtsman, went on to become head of Swindon Art School for 30 years from 1920 and was president for a time of Swindon Artists' Society. He exhibited in London and provincial galleries and Swindon Museum and Art Gallery holds his work. Lived in Swindon.With thanks to artbiogs.co.uk
