Muirhead Bone was appointed as one of Britain’s first official war artist in May 1916. His small black and white drawings were widely reproduced in war-time government-funded publications.

Lieut. Col. J.Y. Campbell won his VC blowing his hunting horn to rally his guardsmen,  (his horn is tucked into his tunic in this drawing).

We are grateful to Forster for assistance.
