Provenance: The Artist's Estate

Literature: Gardeners’ Choice, by Evelyn Dunbar and Charles Mahoney, with a previously unpublished preface by Edward Bawden and with a new afterword by Christopher Campbell-Howes, Persephone Books, London 2015. The bending figure here has a strong resemblance to a young German with whom Dunbar spent some time in 1928/9. A sentimental tribute?
