From 1928 Richard Carline made an extensive trip to North America to lecture and travel and then went further afield sailing in 1930 to South America with another artist, John Duguid , who is worthy of note, on the sailing ship Grace Harwar.
The Orinoco is one of the longest rivers in South America (2,140 km) and the major transportation system for eastern and interior Venezuela and the llanos of Colombia.
The voyage included sailing up the Tigris and Orinoco rivers.
We are grateful to Francis Carline for assistance.
