In a fine tortoise shell frame.Waldron West was a painter whose was greatly influenced by Brangwyn and built up a considerable collection of his work. Edgar Peacock, the son of Bragnwyn's housekeeper Lizzie Peacock, was a beneficiary in Brangwyn's will and inherited a large collection of his work.
In 1937 the 70 year old Brangwyn's was still very active and his reputation still one of international acclaim. One year previously Brangwyn had presented Bruges with over 400 works, now in the Arents House Museum. In return the King of Belgium made Brangwyn Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold II, and Bruges made him Citoyen d'Honneur de Bruges (only the third time the award had been given).
