Brangwyn's association with Ditchling dates back to 1918 when he boughtThe Jointure. He lived here until his death in 1956.
Diana de Vere Cole has suggested that this watercolour depicts the Victoria jubilee V of
trees planted on the Downs above Street, east of Ditchling.
