Provenance: The Artist's own collection

Albert de Belleroche seldom exhibited his drawings. He was also accustomed to sketching straight onto the lithographic stone, rather than working from preparatory drawings, so his pencil and crayon works become all the more significant as a result of their rarity.

This is likely to be the a view of Belleroche's garden at 46 West End Lane, London. The artist moved to West Hampstead in 1912, shortly after his marriage to Julie Emilie Visseaux. They lived here for six years in a large detached house called ‘Glencairn’.
