Provenance: Given by the artist to Crosby Cooke, thence be descent.
Surviving sketch books by Brangwyn are extremely rare. The only other known examples are in the collection of the Royal Academy. This sketch book would appear to be very early, dating to circa 1892, on the basis of references to 'Pasages' and 'Spanish fishing boats'.
