Several images of a seated woman bearing plants in pots often appear in Dunbar’s sketches from the period 1945-52, perhaps in preparation for a much larger picture in a similar style to her pre-war images of women associated with the fruits of the Earth. However, no such painting appears to have come from this comfortably domestic sketch.
