Literature; W.S. Taylor, by John Basford, Northern Creative Print Solutions, 2012, page 21.

Taylor's pictures combine figure and landscape with strong Neo-Romantic overtones, and are saturated with lyricism and a sense of longing.  His compositions are frequently set in the artist's Devonshire garden and usually  include portraits of his wife, Audrey Wallis (1919-1997).

Wallis was a sculptor and painter, born in Whitchurch, Devon. She attended Leicester College of Art, 1936-40 and then won a scholarship to the RCA 1940-43. She was awarded a silver medal and a distinction for her work there and spent the next five years teaching art in York and Rotherham. She taught at Sheffield College of Art from 1948-80.
