Forever exploring possibilities in line drawing while not in any sense abandoning the draughtsmanship for which she was celebrated, Dunbar shows here what she can achieve with a fairly strict economy of line. This has come with experience; her early line drawings were much more lavish. We can presume that the coquettish woman on the recto has no connection with the toddlers on the verso.
