Kemp was a gifted cellist (he had played with the City of Bermingham Symphony Ochestra before commiting himself to painting) and music provided one of the key ingredients of his art.

He and his wife, Irene Crowther, were one half of the KERA Quartet, a widely known string quartet. Irene played zith the BBC Symphony Ochestra and the London Symphony.

MOMA Wales have a large collection of paintings by Arthur Kemp and have held several exhibitions of his work.

We are grateful to Jeremy Rye for his assistance.
