Rayliegh is a town a little inland from the Thames Estuary. This view is from the back of Thors Mead or from a field nearby. Frank Todman the solicitor, who purchased the Egypt and Nubia drawings (now bequeathed to the Beecroft Art Gallery) had his practice in Rayleigh.
